Here are some tips for different types of flowers, when to cut them and how to care for each one to prolong their life and maintain their beauty.

1. Roses

  • The best time to cut them is early in the morning or late in the evening when they are fully hydrated.

2. Lilies

  • The best time to cut lilies is when the buds are just beginning to open, because after cutting, they will bloom in a vase and allow us to enjoy them.

3. Orchids

  • Unlike lilies, orchids are pruned after full bloom. They should be cut just above a node to encourage proper branching.

4. Tulips

  • The best time to cut tulips is before the petals open, so that they open beautifully in a vase and maintain their beauty and life. Also, keep in mind that tulips continue to grow in a vase, so make sure the stems are completely submerged in water.

5. Peony

  • Peonies, like tulips and lilies, should be pruned before the buds open, while they are still in the process of blooming.

6. Lily

  • Lilies, like orchids, should be cut after flowering, when the flowers are fully open but still have their natural firmness.

The process of care and maintenance after cutting flowers is almost always similar, taking into account the following conditions:

  • Use a clean vase and make sure it is thoroughly cleaned to prevent the growth of bacteria that could harm your flowers.

  • Cut the stems at a 45-degree angle to maximize water absorption.

  • Change the water daily. Fresh water helps to remove bacteria and provides the flowers with the necessary hydration.

  • Use flower food to keep them looking beautiful and alive for longer.
